Magne Furuholmen
The artist Magne Furuholmen is well-known for his work in woodcuts, glass, and dry-point prints, as well as ceramics and music installations. He has collaborated with many other artists and has created pieces in many media including sails, architectural installations, and music interventions. His latest project, titled “Peeling a Glass Onion,” is a multi-media exhibition featuring paintings, woodcut prints, large-scale ceramics, and a film.
Furuholmen’s work is represented in museums and public collections throughout the world. He has created several large ceramic sculpture parks, including the largest in Scandinavia, Imprints, which opened in Oslo in 2016. The artist has also been honored with an honorary doctorate degree from Agder University, Norway. The university honored him for his work on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the school.
Bernat Klein
Bernat Klein was an artist and textile designer who made her name in the 1960s. She set up a business in the Scottish Borders that produced vibrant textiles for fashion houses across Europe. Her work is full of texture and colour, and she used impasto to create rich, textured surfaces. In addition to creating textile designs, Klein also commissioned Dovecot Studios to create tapestries of her paintings.

Bernat Klein’s architecture of cloth, colour and space exhibition
This exhibition celebrates the textile designer’s extraordinary legacy. Born in Serbia, Klein settled in Scotland’s Borders following the Second World War. His varied career included providing innovative fabrics to some of Europe’s leading fashion houses. His designs had a significant influence on interior design and architecture in the UK and Scandinavia.
The exhibition celebrates Klein’s work across a variety of media. His most famous work are the intricate tweeds he designed for fashion houses such as Dior, Balenciaga, and Yves Saint Laurent. However, his work is not limited to textiles – he also created pointillist-style paintings.
The exhibition also features a collection of embroidered fabrics, commissioned by Klein. Many of Klein’s textile designs are inspired by his photographs. He is currently working on a larger tapestry project, based on the theme of the horizon.

Dovecot Studios is a leading contemporary art centre located in Edinburgh. The studios are home to nine in-house weavers and a core team of 19 staff. They also have an expanding research and development function and collaborate with leading contemporary artists from across the world.
