Andrew Wommack
Born in Texas, Jonathan Peter Wommack is a successful author, composer, and musician. He was raised by his father, Andrew Wommack. Wommack has also worked as an educator and musician. He has performed at the Kennedy Center for Peace and the Academy Awards.
Wommack is married to Jamie Wommack, a fellow minister. The couple met in 1972, and the couple began ministering to small congregations. In 1976, they started the Gospel Truth radio program. In 1978, they founded Andrew-Wommack Ministries, Inc., and later relocated to Colorado Springs. The ministry began broadcasting from their home in 1981.
Wommack’s ministry includes a healing school, where devoted followers can receive God’s word and bear witness to miracles. However, the Christian Research Institute has described Wommack’s healing school as “doctrinally aberrant.” Wommack’s ministry does not believe in his claims to cure autism, lupus, or Lyme disease. Wommack earned most of his net worth through his own company, and he is an author of several books.
Wommack also founded Discipleship Evangelism Missional Outreach, Truth & Liberty, and Charis Enterprises, Inc., which manages deferred tax assets. He is married to Jamie Wommack, and they have two sons. Andrew and Jamie have been married for 20 years.
Wommack’s life began with a personal encounter with God. At the age of eight, he was born again. His conversion helped him avoid the rebellious phase of his adolescence. In the armed forces, Andrew served as a chaplain’s assistant in Vietnam. While there, Andrew learned about the Word of God and the power of the Gospel.
After Andrew went on television, his ministry began to take off. The number of students increased exponentially, and the ministry required a new building. He also had to add a call center and a television studio. After reading Psalm 78:41, Andrew repented of his small thinking and enlarged his vision. He purchased a 110,000-square-foot facility in 2002.
