Before his marriage to Mary Berry, Andy was married twice. First, he married Barbara Bray Edwards, who played Mavis Neff on the popular TV show Mayberry. They married in 1949 and had two adopted children, Sam Griffith and Dixie Nann Griffith.
In his second marriage, he remarried the Greek actress Solica Casuto. Their marriage lasted five years. However, they divorced in 1981. After the divorce, they kept the details of their divorce private.
The third marriage of Andy Griffith, to Cindi Knight, lasted nearly thirty years. The couple had two daughters. While they were married, they lived on a 68-acre ranch in Dare County, North Carolina. At one point, the family lived in the home of Bing Crosby.
Andy Griffith’s health issues
During his long career, Andy Griffith dealt with a variety of ailments. Sadly, he was also a victim of asbestos. This toxic material is a known cause of death for thousands of American residents each year.

Andy Griffith was an American television and film actor, comedian, screenwriter, and producer. He made his first TV appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show in the 1950s. During his career, he starred in numerous TV movies and series and was nominated for an Emmy award. His career spanned seven decades, and he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005.
As an actor, he was known for his roles in the TV shows The Andy Griffith Show and Matlock. Despite his many accomplishments, Andy Griffith had health problems throughout his life. Some of his problems included Guillain-Barre syndrome, an infection of the nerves that cause paralysis of the lower body. In 2007, he fell and broke his hip.
In June of 2000, Griffith suffered a heart attack. After the attack, he had quadruple heart bypass surgery. While undergoing the surgery, Knight stayed by his side.
After the surgery, Griffith had difficulty walking. However, after several months of rehabilitation, he was able to walk again. He continued to make guest appearances on popular TV shows.
