Collecting Socks For Good Causes

Posted on December 11, 2022 by admin

Besides collecting socks, there are other ways to donate. For example, the HCAPE Foundation, the Dignity for Divas Foundation, and Knock Knock Give A Sock can be used to raise money for a good cause.

Sera and Rita’s

Located in Trevose, Pennsylvania, Rita’s has been serving the tri-state area and beyond since 1984. They offer a wide selection of frozen treats including, but not limited to, ice cream, custard, and blended beverages. Their famous Old-Fashioned Frozen Custard is the star of the show, but they have many other options to choose from. The menu also features a plethora of other goodies, from Italian Ice to layered Gelati. The company has even gotten into franchising, with more than 625 outlets in the United States and abroad, with more in the works. They are currently operating in twenty states. Despite the company’s recent forays into China and India, they are still headquartered in Trevose.

Kipp Star Harlem College Prep Elementary School

KIPP Star Harlem College Prep Elementary School is on a mission to help the less fortunate during the holiday season. As part of their Knowledge is Power Program, the school is collecting socks to donate to local homeless shelters. Their efforts have garnered nine times the number of socks that they set out to collect, and the school hopes to make it a tradition. Socks, the KIPP school says, are the first line of defense in protecting your feet from cold weather. KIPP has teamed up with local Starbucks and Exodus Transitional Community to raise awareness about the need for warm socks and to provide a means to help the less fortunate.

Knock Knock Give A Sock

Founded by Adina Lichtman, Knock Knock Give A Sock is an organization that helps homeless people. It provides them with socks and the opportunity to talk with others. It also encourages individuals and organizations to hold a sock drive. This allows the organization to distribute millions of pairs of socks to those in need.

Adina started the charity in her sophomore year of college. She wanted to get to know her neighbors and learn more about homelessness. She started collecting socks for the homeless and distributing them to those in need. After she graduated with a master’s degree in social work, she decided to take KKGS full-time. She is now in charge of the organization’s leadership and operations.

Dignity for Divas

Founded by Nikki Gane-Butler, Dignity for Divas is a nonprofit organization that offers a variety of ways for people to give back to the community. Their volunteer opportunities include financial literacy workshops, beauty workshops, and skill-building classes. In addition to helping homeless women, Dignity for Divas also provides trauma healing and self-enhancing workshops.

Dignity for Divas is hosting its annual 10 for 10 Sock Drive to help local shelters as the temperatures begin to drop. The organization plans to collect enough socks to provide 83 pairs of warm, dry socks to homeless individuals for a year. They are asking for donations of new, unopened socks in all sizes. They are particularly looking for adult, tall, thick, and plus-size socks.

HCAPE Foundation

Those in the medical field have probably heard about the Hennepin Healthcare EMS sock drive, but not everyone knows about it. The EMS has been collecting items ranging from socks and hats to gloves and wallets since the beginning of the year. The sock drive is not only an effective way to help the homeless, but also a fun and educational event for the community at large. This year’s sock drive will be bigger than ever thanks to the efforts of the EMS, which will be handing out sock awards to patients, residents, and staff alike. The Hennepin Healthcare EMS is the largest nonprofit EMS organization in the state of Minnesota, serving more than 500,000 people a year. The EMS is not only responsible for responding to a myriad of emergencies each year, but also delivering countless emergency care calls, and providing transportation to hospitals and other medical facilities.

ElderSource

During the month of February, ElderSource of Northeast Florida collected 3,765 pairs of socks for its “Sockuary” fundraiser. Those socks will be donated to local nursing facilities. The aforementioned scheme is one of the many services ElderSource of Northeast Florida provides to aging seniors in the area. The company also has a few other worthwhile functions including a retirement home, a senior daycare and a senior dining facility. The organization is also a worthy recipient of the state’s most generous senior citizen program. As the name implies, the senior citizen program is free to eligible seniors, thanks to the benevolent benefactors of a few generous donors.
